The Generator offers a free walking tour of London, which allows everyone, no matter of budget, to fully discover the most visited city in Europe. The expert guides will share their personal stories and insights during this intriguing, 3.5 hour English-language overview walking tour. This is not for group bookings.

Room information

The hostel has over 800 beds, which includes shared and private rooms. The rooms are all single bunk beds and the bathrooms are shared facilities located on each floor. Bed linen is included. The rooms are all dormitory style rooms with the smallest room having 2 bed and the largest having 8 beds. They are all bunk beds with a wash basin in each room and a locker provided for each bed.

Travel information

By public transport: Take the Piccadilly Line Underground to Russell Square. From there cross over the road onto Marchmont Street, walk to the traffic lights and turn right onto Tavistock Place. At number 37 Tavistock Place turn down into Compton Place - the Generator is at the end. You can also walk to us from King's Cross and Euston stations. Quick description

The UK's largest, liveliest and funkiest hostel is located in the centre of London, and is the perfect place to meet other backpackers from all over the world. Centrally located near Russell Square Tube station, the hostel offers 800 beds in private twin, triple, quad and 5-bed rooms, all with a washbasin. A free continental breakfast and bed linen is included. You can also enjoy free hot showers 24 hours a day. Party the night away in the famous Generator Bar. Happy hour is from 18:00 to 21:00, with drinks at great discounted prices. There are also special deals on meals and drinks every night. There are events every night: karaoke on Thursdays, a live DJ on Saturdays and free movies on Wednesdays and Sundays. The Generator also has an internet cafe, a lounge area and a games room with pool tables, all open 24 hours. A free walking tour of the city is also available (see below for details).

Important information

American Express Cards: If you reserve a room at this hotel using an American Express card, please note that you must arrive by 16:00. If you have not arrived by this time, The Generator will release and re-sell the room. Smoking Policy: All the rooms at The Generator are non-smoking. However, there are smoking and non-smoking public areas in the hostel. Check-In All guests will require proof-of-age photo ID upon check-in. Group Bookings: Your booking will be considered a group booking if includes 20 or more people. Once you have booked your rooms you will need to contact The Generator via email or telephone to confirm the exact age of your party (groups under 18 years of age are not accepted). You will also need to pay the entire cost of the reservation at least 1 month before arrival. Late payment will result in the rooms being re-sold by The Generator.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation Policy: If cancelled up to 1 day before the date of arrival, no fee will be charged. If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the first night will be charged. Children and Extra Bed Policy: Children older than 18 years are welcome. There is no capacity for extra beds/cots in the room. Deposit Policy: No deposit will be charged. VAT and city/tourist taxes: 15 % VAT is included. Service charge is not applicable. City/tourist tax is not applicable. Internet: Wireless internet is available in public areas and costs GBP 1.50 per hour. Wired internet is available in public areas and costs GBP 1.50 per hour. Meal Plan: Continental breakfast is included in the room rate. Parking: No parking available. Pets: Pets are not allowed. The hotel reserves the right to pre-authorise credit cards prior to arrival.
